Red Cross donor centers
set new hours in Region
Effective, Monday, June 30, the American Red Cross Missouri - Illinois Blood Services Region will start new hours at its 11 blood donation centers. Each center will be open five days a week with some days being more “morning” oriented and others being “afternoon-early evening.”
“After listening to our donors and in an effort to make it more convenient for them to give of their time and the precious gift of life, we are establishing the new hours,” said Robert Sanchez, Regional Telerecuitment Manager. “It’s because of the generosity of our volunteer donors, that the American Red Cross is able to fulfill its mission of providing a safe and adequate blood supply for the community.”
All of the centers except one (Krakow, Mo.) will offer days for collecting whole blood and days for apheresis collections. “Morning hours” days will accept apheresis donors as early as 7:00 AM and whole blood donors as early as 7:30 AM. Apheresis donors will be accepted until 2:00 PM, whole blood donors until 2:30. On “afternoon days” hours will run 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM for apheresis donors, 11:30 AM – 6:30 PM for whole blood donors. The Krakow center will be strictly open for apheresis collections.

Celebrate your freedom -
Donate blood this July Fourth
Help ensure hospitals have the blood
they need this summer
Summer vacations and holidays can mean a dangerous combination of low blood donations and increased activity in trauma centers, especially when a holiday falls on a weekend.
The Red Cross attempts to maintain a two-day supply of blood available. But this supply can be diminished severely because of the increased number of automobile accidents that often occur—especially when a holiday begins an extended weekend as it does this July Fourth.
The Red Cross encourages existing and new donors to make a commitment to donate regularly and to make an appointment to give at one of our donation centers or a Red Cross blood drive near where a person lives or work.
With your help, the Red Cross can prepare for, prevent, and respond to emergencies in our communities. You have the freedom to help save a life – give blood. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) to schedule an appointment or find a blood donation opportunity near you, click here.
